Turkey is still popular among the Russians

turkey-travel-logoThe tourist flow to Turkey increased, but according to ATOR Analytical Service, less Russians visited the country last year.

During 2009 the tourist flow to Turkey grew by 2.81% (more than 27 million people). At the same time the tourist flow from Russia declined by 6.41% in comparison with 2008 (2 694 733 people in 2009).

UEFA to open exhibition in Turkey's Istanbul

The Union of European Football Federations will inaugurate an exhibition in Istanbul on Thursday.

uefa-cupUEFA will inaugurate the "Only A Game?" exhibition at the Taksim Cumhuriyet Arts Gallery, with contributions of the Turkish Football Federation and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality as a part of the Istanbul 2010 European Capital of Culture activities.

"Only a Game?" brings together a wide range of objects and images, characteristics of the city's attachment to local and European football, and various high-tech elements, with a view to making it as fun and interactive as possible.

The Tourism Industry turns to Turkey for this year’s EMITT Exhibition

On 11 February, the 14th edition of EMITT, the East Mediterranean International Travel & Tourism Exhibition will open in Turkey, welcoming thousands of tourism professionals and travel enthusiasts.

This year, the event will feature 50 countries, from Turkey's nearest neighbours to long-haul holiday destinations, as well as over 100 cities and regions, and over 500 resorts, travel agencies, tour operators from within Turkey.

Muslim place of worship built with a woman's touch

There is a shiny addition among the Ottoman mosques and palaces that make up Istanbul's stunning skyline: the metallic, mirrored dome of the new Sakirin Mosque, a Muslim place of worship built with a woman's touch.

When sun reflects off Sakirin Mosque's dome, light can be seen across the Bosphorus Strait.

For what may be the first time in history, women have been at the forefront of the construction of a mosque in Turkey.
